Mobile Home taxes
are due the last day of January and the last day of July.
Mobile Home bills reflect current year taxes. For example
the bills due in 2000 are for the tax year 2000. Currently,
Allen County will only accept cash or check as payment for
taxes. At this time we do not take credit cards or offer direct
deduction from your account. As your Treasurer, I am working
on implementing these programs. While many residents mail
their taxes we still offer personal service by having 3 registers
open to accept payments in our office.
SENATE BILL #142
Please
Read ... Important Notice
New legislation has been passed Enacted
March 1, 1999 - Effective January 1, 2000. The Senate Bill
142 changes the way Manufactured Home Tax is calculated and
collected. The County Auditor is responsible for tax calculations
and the County Treasurer is responsible for the collection
procedures. We feel that it is our responsibility to notify
owners of all changes in the collection procedures. Therefore,
we sent out a form letter to all manufactured home owners
with their July bill. Following is the letter we sent.
The enactment of Senate Bill #142 brings
manufactured/mobile homes collections up to the level of real
estate, therefore creating many new questions and uncertainty
for our taxpayers. To prepare for this change in February
of 2000 we created a new position within our office of a "Collections
Manager", Mr. David Britt will be working with past due
accounts to resolve delinquencies before the County Prosecutor's
office, per the Ohio Revised Code, is to become involved.
